25/11/16 – Session with Owen Baxter

In today’s session we were introduced with sound recording and how to use the recording equipment. The SHURE mic or dynamic mic is not very sensitive as it absorbs loud sound from very close distance and it is used manly for singer and band recording. The RODE NTG-2 or shotgun mic is very sensitive and can catch light sounds of the area that surrounds it like the wind, walking etc and can be used in the film industry. The recorder that I am holding on the picture below is called ZOOM HS with a display screen where you can check the meters and can be used for interviews. In my project I am going to use this equipment a lot for sound and voice recording for my animations, so I need to start practising straight away.
